Governor candidate Alan Makayev to expose Dave Reichert as a charlatan at Press Conference
Gubernatorial candidate Alan Makayev, will charge that Dave Reichert unfairly rose to political power by falsely taking credit for solving the Green River killings. Reichert’s other so-called “achievements” are in fact reasons why he is unqualified to be governor, according to Makayev.
Alan Makayev is a Tacoma entrepreneur, who is the largest self-funded candidate in the race for governor. He has paid over $100,000 of his own funds so he can eliminate what he calls “nonsense” in state government.
A major reason for the nonsense in Washington State, according to Makayev, is that Washington is run by unqualified bureaucrats who have no business experience or educational background. The result is that political leaders are building empires of bureaucrats and conducting worthless studies so that they can pay back patronage special interests rather than run government efficiently.
Reichert is a classic example, according to Makayev. Citing numerous credible published sources, Makayev charges that Reichert was more of a hindrance than a help to the investigation that let to the capture of the Green River killer, Gary Ridgeway. According to Reichert’s supervisor, Reichert was one of the worst detectives he had ever known. If Reichert had just listened to his co-workers and subordinates, the killing would have stopped at Green River victim #5, because Ridgeway would have been caught in the act during a stakeout that Reichert refused to order because of his ineptitude and tunnel vision. Reichert went on to miss numerous opportunities to catch the killer because he used a long discredited investigatory technique to identify, focus on and then harass a cab driver who had nothing to do with the murders. It was not until 2001 when science, not the work of Reichert, led to the capture of Ridgeway. Even then the capture was delayed over 5 years because Reichert never had Ridgway’s saliva tested, when the scientific technique became available in 1996. By then the number of murders was at least 49, making Ridgway one of the most prolific serial killers in world history.
At the press conference, numerous other examples where Reichert unfairly took credit for his policework will be presented. Even as a politician, Reichert biggest accomplishment appears to have been building up political connections so he could raise over $4 million for his gubernatorial campaign. According to Makayev, most of this will have to be repaid in the form of political kickbacks, all to the detriment of Washington’s citizens should Reichert be elected.
